At 17 years old, Bo Burnham is one talented young comedian and another Youtube sensation. Songs like “3.14 Apple Pie” and “Perfect Woman” are freakin’ hilarious. Now, normally I embed the media right to Karmarogue but in this case I am going to give out a link right to Bo’s YouTube homepage because frankly it is worth watching every single video he’s made and will make in the future. If I was a talent scout, I’d be all over this.

Japan: You are crazy. If I was suddenly able to ignore everything I’ve seen and read about your culture except for that show you did with Nasubi, I’d still think you were fucking crazy.
Never heard of Nasubi? In the name of good television, Nasubi was stripped of all clothing and locked into an apartment with no food, household goods, furniture, or any form of entertainment. Nasubi was led to this apartment with a blindfold on so he would not know where he was. This was just the beginning of the Japanese reality show known as Susunu! Denpa Shōnen.

TVUPlayer is simply awesome. With TVU, you can watch live TV as it happens! This is especially convenient for those of you who do not have cable but also for people like me who want to turn their laptop into a portable cable television. It was especially cool the other day when I was on a road trip while a football game was on TV. Rather than miss the broadcast, I used my Blackberry as a portable modem and streamed the game with TVU! When it was over, I switched over to Comedy Central… again, while driving!
As far as channels go, TVU has plenty and has a nice guide-style layout so you can quickly find what you are looking for. Some of the major channels I have available to choose from as I write this include: CBS, Bloomberg, Fox News, SpikeTV, Comedy Central, SciFi, Nickelodeon, ABC News from New York City, Fox News from New Orleans, and plenty more. In addition to well-known stations, several users broadcast their own custom channels such as one totally dedicated to the show Dragonball Z and another than shows nothing but weird, old movies.
Note: You may find that the show you expect to be on whatever station is not on when it should be. If this happens, the reason is most likely that you are from a different time zone than the person broadcasting the station.

Miro is a truly awesome media player. It can be setup to act literally like a DVR / TiVo device. Unlike most media players that subscribe to podcasts which download files from servers, Miro employees torrent technology. This means that the more popular the show, the faster the download – and every show I’ve downloaded so far has been lightning fast. The coolest thing of all, though, is the ability to make your own channels out of RSS feeds of torrents. tvRSS.net is a good source for such feeds. I, for example, added TV shows South Park, Scrubs, and Curb Your Enthusiasm to my Miro and when new episodes of these shows come out they will automatically be downloaded via torrent to my computer.

Soulja Boy’s “Crank That” is not my definition of a cool song. But Travis Barker and his drums make it 1,000% better.

This viral video features the song “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” by Daft Punk. Watch these hands break it down!

Talk about a cool commercial. This Guiness advertisement turns a small town into a giant domino effect which ends with the pages of 10,000 books flipping open to create a giant pint of Guiness.

Christopher Knight ran for the Rockingham County Board of Education. Although he did not win, he produced one of the best political campaign commercials I have ever seen.

Comedy Central keeps rolling out their collection of free on-line video clips from some of their best shows. The collection of South Park clips kicks some ass. It is the perfect tool to loop up particular clips you’re telling your friends about. Best of all it’s very up-to-date and you can embed them right onto your site. Continue on for a clip from Imaginationland part II

These commercials are for Mac’s WTF drink which is much like 711′s slurpee. Talk about viral. Mac’s (not the computer company, the convenient store) commercials are some of the weirdest and yet most creative and entertaining commercials I’ve seen:

Al Gore spoke at a conference in Pheonix one day after learning he had one the Nobel Peace Prize. The Current TV chairman Al Gore had a lot to say… about Current TV. In fact, at that Pheonix conference he never even referred to the Nobel honor or his global warming campaign.

Like YouTube, Hulu seeks to deliver the web shows, movies, clips, and more. Unlike YouTube, Hulu videos are high quality. Additionally, Hulu has partnered up for the rights to show programs like The Office, Arrested Development, Prison Break, Heroes, and many more. Hulu has also partnered with content owners such as E!, FUEL, SciFi Network, and USA Networks. Hulu also allows users to share and embed videos. The only downside? It’s currently beta and thus only a limited number of people have access.

Peter Griffin would never throw his best friend Quagmire out on the street like a Prom Night Dumpster Baby! Video after the fold, silly.

What is Machinima? A production technique whereby a video game is used to produce a film. So what is special about BloodSpell? Aside from being very polished machinima, it is believed to be the largest machinima film ever produced. Another damn cool thing about BloodSpell is that it is being released under a Creative Commons license which means that it will be both free to download and to modify – the producers even encourage it! BloodSpell was created using the game Neverwinter Night and was written and directed my Hugh Hancock.

If you haven’t heard the crappy news about TV-Links, I’ll break it to you now: It’s gone and the guy running it has been arrested. How somebody can be arrested for linking to other sites is beyond me but apparently under some bullshit section 92 of the Trade Mark Act you can be arrested “on suspicion of supplying property with a registered trademark without permission.” Whatever. So where do we turn to now that obviously 18 new TV-Links style sites have popped up? Risking my freedom and begging for jail time – I will tell you where!

The entire eight-year strong archive of the Daily Show has been posted online. Users can watch any show via an ad driven setup. This comes in light of the $1 billion law suit Viacom has going against Youtube. I guess this will be a good measuring stick to prove to the courts that the ability to stream The Daily Show is, in fact, worth billions.
