Back in the day, Network Solutions was the only place to go to buy a .com or any other domain name for that matter. Now, however, they are a distant third behind market giants GoDaddy and eNom. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why. Network Solutions charges over four times as much money as other industry leaders do.
Now comes word that Network Solutions is resorting to scamming people. Site’s like Network Solutions have a tool on their page that allows people to look for available websites to register. Now whenever anybody uses this tool on their site, Network Solutions will do more than report back to you whether the site is available or not. If it’s available, Network Solutions will register the domain automatically. In other words, they will say “Hey, yeah it’s available, and the only way you’re going to get it is if you buy it from me.”
Stay away from Network Solutions. You do not want to have to pay $35 for what you can get for $8 or less from other sites that provide the exact same thing! Shame on you, Network Solutions. Shame on you…
Thanks goes to TechCrunch for the scoop

As if Ron Paul was not already the clearest choice for the next leader of the free world, he now has Glenn Jacobs backing him. Known as Kane in the WWE, just look at Glenn modeling the Ron Paul Revolution t-shirt and meeting Ron himself!

“And Zarathustra ran and ran
and did not find anybody any more,
and he was alone
and found himself again and again,
and he enjoyed and quaffed his solitude
and thought of good things for hours.”
- Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathusra, “At Noon”
“You lose yourself, you reappear
You suddenly find you got nothing to fear
Alone you stand with nobody near
When a trembling distant voice, unclear
Startles your sleeping ears to hear
That somebody thinks
They really found you.”
- Bob Dylan, It’s Alright, Ma (Im Only Bleeding)

TVUPlayer is simply awesome. With TVU, you can watch live TV as it happens! This is especially convenient for those of you who do not have cable but also for people like me who want to turn their laptop into a portable cable television. It was especially cool the other day when I was on a road trip while a football game was on TV. Rather than miss the broadcast, I used my Blackberry as a portable modem and streamed the game with TVU! When it was over, I switched over to Comedy Central… again, while driving!
As far as channels go, TVU has plenty and has a nice guide-style layout so you can quickly find what you are looking for. Some of the major channels I have available to choose from as I write this include: CBS, Bloomberg, Fox News, SpikeTV, Comedy Central, SciFi, Nickelodeon, ABC News from New York City, Fox News from New Orleans, and plenty more. In addition to well-known stations, several users broadcast their own custom channels such as one totally dedicated to the show Dragonball Z and another than shows nothing but weird, old movies.
Note: You may find that the show you expect to be on whatever station is not on when it should be. If this happens, the reason is most likely that you are from a different time zone than the person broadcasting the station.

First of all, thanks to the 77,173 unique visitors who have come to Karma Rogue since I launched it October 15th. I made this blog to entertain people but have had little time to invest in promoting it or getting involved in the blogging communities. Luckily or deservingly, other people have spread the word for me and google has been fairly kind as well.
Since the beginning, I’ve taken pride in providing daily updates and keeping the site advertisement free. In order to keep the site advertisement free I have employed a very conservative layout that really keeps the server from working unnecessarily hard. Daily updates, however, have been a bit more of a challenge lately. I’ve gone through some life changes that you can read and see a little about on my personal blog if you wish.
Anyways, things have calmed down as much as I am willing to let them which means that I will do my best to provide daily updates once more. Feel free to shoot an e-mail to karmarogue [at] gmail [dot] com if you have something you’d like to see posted here.
I vow to continue to provide random, entertaining content without dishing out advertisements and will do my very best to return to the daily updates format in the coming week.

The Soladay Ion Toothbrush runs on solar power. A small solar panel that is similar to those found in pocket calculators generates a small current that then sends streams of ions through the bristles. Ions attack bacteria which are known to cause plaque and tooth decay. In other words, with the ions no toothpaste is even necessary. Better yet the brush even ships with replacement bristles. It retails for $29.95.

That’s right folks. After years of w00ting the best situations that arise in the world of video gaming, Merriam-Webster has officially announced that “w00t” is the word of the year. w00t, for those of you who do not interact with video games or socialize with gamers that pwn stuff, is a lot like saying “yay,” Merriam said. Merriam-Webster went on to further explain that, “It could be after a triumph or for no reason at all.”
Here’s where it gets silly: Merriam-Webster then claimed that there is a rising trend in using numbers in the place of letters. Is this trend not so 1995?
Bottom line: Score one for l33t speak!

Miro is a truly awesome media player. It can be setup to act literally like a DVR / TiVo device. Unlike most media players that subscribe to podcasts which download files from servers, Miro employees torrent technology. This means that the more popular the show, the faster the download - and every show I’ve downloaded so far has been lightning fast. The coolest thing of all, though, is the ability to make your own channels out of RSS feeds of torrents. tvRSS.net is a good source for such feeds. I, for example, added TV shows South Park, Scrubs, and Curb Your Enthusiasm to my Miro and when new episodes of these shows come out they will automatically be downloaded via torrent to my computer.

During a Miami Dolphins and New York Giants game, this guy ran onto the field with a tear-away ref outfit and bared almost everything; got naked. He did cover up his dong with some sort of football underwear. Hilarious.

This is just too damn cool. I’ve known for a while that you could boot Linux from a flash memory card / USB stick. But now I have a seriously comprehensive listing of possible ways to pull this off.

In the first “Learning to Blog” post, I was really, really new to the blogosphere. I had little-to-no idea what I wanted with karmarogue.com. I had read several blogging-tips sites that said: “Above all else, your blog should have a focus.” Here I am, on day 50 of my blog’s lifespan, and I still have very little direction.

This video is hilarious. Some kid gets all fired up while playing Wii. This, in turn, excites the nearby dog who then pursues to go to town on the poor young chap.
